Poem - ‘Alan’ by Robb Jutras

Alan’s page

Mad as a hatter...?!

These are the web pages of Mr and Mrs Bear and their furry offspring (9 bears, a rabbit - named ‘Rabbit’ - and Monty!)

Those of you not familiar with the mad and furry goings on     of Mr and Mrs Bear (otherwise known as Dr and Mrs Robert Lowson) will please note the picture on the left which is a link to the ‘homepage’ for our Alan Hunter web pages. Those of you more versed in web design and technology must ‘bear’ (oops - couldn’t resist!) with the rather primitive nature of some of the presentation/links - we are still learning the basics!

To those of you who know us and didn’t know Alan, I can only offer our commiserations. Personally, although it was short  and sweet, I feel very lucky to have made the acquaintance of such a special man; hence these pages. Hope you enjoy them!

The original idea for the site was to have a place where we (and the bears...) could post pictures and accounts of our holidays, pictures of the wedding (of course!), and links to our other interests.

It has to be said that despite not necessarily looking like we have a lot of poetic talent you would be surprised (very surprised!) at the various poems that have been written by Mr and Mrs Bear on their holidays - including the infamous Carrawagsted Point poems which were written halfway through a walk along the Pembrokeshire coastal path, and the equally intellectual “Ode to Hotel Chateau Laurier” which we wrote while on honeymoon in Canada (Not a very complimentary poem I might add but covering all the relevant points!!!)

We feel it is time to share these literary masterpieces with the world and since everyone knows we are already gaga (well, Mrs Bear at least and Mr Bear by default and marriage*) no-one should be too shocked or offended by the familiar and furry nature of many of these pages.

* Those of you at the wedding might remember the speech by the father of the bride commiserating with Bob on having married into a barking mad family - but as my friend Tess said gleefully to Bob after the ceremony: Too late! - you’ve married that now!!!
